Media Release - Meetings with the Community

Please be advised that the Umhlanga Hindu Society (UHS) has embarked on a process of understanding the diverse needs and challenges facing the Hindu community by putting in place a comprehensive Policy Framework. As part of this consultative process to assist the UHS in developing this framework, the Task Team has planned to invite the community to engage in collaborative discussions with us.

The members of the Executive Committee hereby humbly request your assistance in inserting the under-mentioned article in the next edition of the Tribune Herald.

UMHLANGA HINDU SOCIETY –  MEETINGS WITH THE COMMUNITY

The Umhlanga Hindu Society (UHS) is a non-profit religious, cultural and charitable organisation committed to building a universal place of worship and a spiritual resource centre in Umhlanga. It is envisaged that in this spiritual haven the Hindu religion in all its facets will be celebrated and taught to our youth and members of the Hindu community through religious principles, values, tolerance, truth, understanding, music, language and spiritual growth. We believe it is particularly in holding these values and influencing others to share in
them that Hinduism will contribute to the rich tapestry of the South African society.

The Umhlanga Hindu Society humbly invites you to participate in face to face meetings every Wednesday on 2, 9, 16 and 23 April from 6:30pm to 7:00pm to discusss your questions and suggestions. This will culminate in an interactive  workshop to be held on Wednesday, 30 April 2008 from 6:30 to 8:30pm at our Temple Site, 46 Hambridge Avenue, Somerset Park. The purpose of this workshop is to identify the needs, challenges, suggestions and questions raised by the community. Your responses will enlighten the UHS in adopting an integrated and holistic approach in developing a comprehensive Policy Framework which will guide the activities of the UHS.
